Luanda Hash – February 28, 2009

February 28, 2009

Today was my first participation to a “hash”. About 50 people participated. There were two groups. One with runners and the other one with walkers. I joined the walkers

We followed a route through interesting neighborhoods in the outskirts of Luanda, around the national stadium, not far from the airport.

We walked for about one hour, covering maybe two miles. We crossed some areas where you may not want to go through alone by night.

My colleague Brian Boone and a young French girl who is since three days in Angola and for the first time in Africa. You will notice the chinese billboard on the background. The country is full of chinese  (offically 40,000, probably more tan that). They are working to rebuild the country which was destroyed by thirty years of war. The blue bus is also typicall. It is a collective taxi. There are hundreds of them in Luanda

Children are always happy, they can play anywhere

Nice church on the way. I don’t know it’s name

It all ends up with a beer.

The next hash is in two weeks time. looking forward to it
